W3C is the World Wide Web Consortium. It provides guidelines based on best practice, regarding how websites and web pages should be structured and created for long–term durability. The W3C validation is just a standard for specified machine languages, checking web documents, spelling, grammar, syntax, and proofreading.

Why should you validate your website?

HTML Validator

Not all browsers are the same, but they will try to display web pages even if they contain HTML code that is “illegal” (not correctly written). The browser cannot guess if you forgot to close a script tag and do it automatically for you. Eventually your website will either look like a total mess because of some un-closed tags, or even crash.

That’s why you should make sure your pages contain only legal HTML. The best way to do that is by running your website through one or more HTML validators like the one provided by W3C.

Don’t panic if you get an Invalid Status! Most of the errors are very easy to fix!
